VARIABLE INDUCTION SYSTEM
A variable induction
system allows a car’s engine to generate more power with greater
efficiency. The variable induction system is an intake manifold
configuration that includes two sets of runners.
Airflow to these
runners is regulated by butterfly valves and the car’s computer. One set
of runners is longer than the other. At low engine speeds, air is forced
through the longer intake runners to increase torque.
Then, once the engine
reaches a preset threshold speed, the car’s computer opens the butterfly
valves that cover the shorter set of intake runners. When these shorter
runners are opened, airflow is increased at higher engine rpm’s.
