OXYGEN SENSOR
The oxygen sensor is
a sensor that monitors combustion
efficiency by measuring the amount of oxygen released in the vehicle’s
exhaust gases.
OBD II vehicles are equipped with at least
two oxygen sensors (primary and secondary), located on either side of the
catalytic converter.
The primary oxygen
sensor is located in front of the catalytic converter. It monitors the
oxygen content of exhaust gases entering the catalytic converter.
The secondary oxygen
sensor is located behind the catalytic converter. This sensor monitors the
oxygen content of gases leaving the catalytic converter.
