GASOLINE INJECTION SYSTEM
A gasoline injection
system sprays fuel into the engine’s intake manifold. The spray is driven
by pressure from an electric fuel pump. A carburetor--the older
alternative--uses engine vacuum instead. The advantages of a gasoline
injection system over a carburetor system are many:
Improved fuel
economy: The gasoline injection
system results in superior fuel economy over a carburetor system
Improved
mixture/atomization: The
pressure created during the gasoline injection process results in a finer
mist.
Improve engine
efficiency/power: Fuel is
delivered in precise quantities to each cylinder, and airflow is increased
with a gasoline injection system. This enhances engine power/efficiency.
Improved
maintenance: Gasoline injection
systems rely on fewer parts than carburetor systems. Therefore, there are
fewer components that can wear out or break.
