EXHAUST BACK PRESSURE

Exhaust back pressure is pressure that develops in the exhaust system while a vehicle’s engine is running. High exhaust back pressure is undesirable, as it reduces engine power.

Engineers therefore design exhaust systems to minimize exhaust back pressure. Exhaust back pressure can be minimized with larger exhaust pipes and through certain optimizations in the muffler design.
