Connecting Rod
The connecting rod
links the piston and the crankshaft, and transfers the power of the
pistons to the crankshaft.
The connecting rod
also moves the piston during the intake, compression and
exhaust strokes. (During the power stroke, the piston is driven
by the combustion of gases in the cylinder.)
The connecting rod
has a large and a small end, both of which have holes. The hole at the
large end encircles the crankshaft. The hole at the small end encircles
the piston ring.
